Madhya Pradesh: 26-year-jail term in rape case
The convict has to serve an additional prison term of one and half years if he failed to pay the fine, the verdict said.
Bhopal: In a significant development, a court in Madhya Pradesh on Saturday sentenced a man, accused of raping a minor, to rigorous imprisonment for 26 years.
Panna district court judge Justice Amitabh Mishra convicted Ramesh Yadav (39) in the case and sentenced him to 26 years in jail besides slapping a fine of Rs 28,000.
The convict has to serve an additional prison term of one and half years if he failed to pay the fine, the verdict said.
According to the case diary, the accused, a resident of Purba village in the district, had been outraging modesty of the minor girl for the last four months by threatening to kill her if she exposed him.
The victim later gathered course to lodge a FIR in the Ajeygarh police station in this connection.
