Aantapur: There are allegations of men of Rapthadu MLA T. Prakash Reddy of YSRC have kidnapped nine construction labourers of West Bengal working at the Jagananna layout in Kodimi of Anantapur Rural mandal.

It is stated that a contractor from West Bengal Sarwar Jahan had bagged the contract for work at the Jagananna layout in Kodimi.

Following differences with the contractor, followers of Prakash Reddy reportedly threatened Sarwar Jahan and abducted nine of his workers. The contractor approached West Bengal MP A.K. Khan Chowdary, who sent a mail to Anantapur SP Anburajan seeking release of the workers.

Call data of the MLA threatening the contractor have been submitted to SP, it is stated. The SP has deputed Anantapur Rural DSP to verify the matter.

CPI state secretary K. Ramakrishna has demanded action against Prakash Reddy for kidnapping workers.

The Rapthadu MLA has, however, denied allegations of kidnapping the labourers. He maintained that he has in fact sought speedy completion of the Jagananna housing scheme in Kodimi.
