Bengaluru: Alert cops foil ATM robbery, one held

BENGALURU: Two alert policemen on night patrol foiled a welder’s attempt to rob an unguarded ATM by catching him red-handed in Kottigepalya in Kamakshipalya police station early Tuesday.
Around 3 am, the accused, Harish (35), a resident of Kottigepalya and hailing from Uttar Pradesh, was unscrewing the ATM of Axis bank, while the Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Rajanna and constable Belliyappa noticed some suspicious activity inside the ATM.
The police initially thought the man was using ATM to withdraw money, by later grew suspicious when he started moving inside the kiosk suspiciously.
The two policemen then approached the kiosk and found the accused unscrewing the ATM. The nabbed him and took him to the police station. The incident took place at around 3 am and the kiosk had no security guard.
A case has been registered against Harish and police are interrogating him to check if he was involved in any previous cases.
