Cyberabad She Team saw most plaints for predators

Harassment, blackmail form the notorious three among cases booked.

Hyderabad: Among the cases that the Cyberabad She Team received this January were various cases of sexual predators, harassment and blackmail. The police arrested the accused in three instances and also 51 others who were found misbehaving and eve-teasing at public places.

A married woman working at a private hostel in Hyderguda was facing severe harassment by her supervisor Venkatesh, 25, who was forcing her to talk to him.

The accused started threatening her and even terrorised her by saying that he would kill her son, after she refused to talk to him. Venkatesh did not stop with that but started to threaten to defame her in front of her relatives. Unable to bear the harassment, the victim approached the She Team and the accused was arrested.

In another incident at Balanagar, accused Sompally Mahesh, 26, was arrested for harassing his friend’s wife to fulfil his lust. The accused had morphed the pictures of the victim and threatened to share the pictures with her husband and other family members.

In another incident at Dundigal, a woman purchased a cake from Marri Vivekananda Reddy, 24, of Jinnaram. When she paid money through an electronic payment application, he saved her number. Vivekananda then started messaging her on WhatsApp and started calling her repeatedly. The accused was arrested after the woman approached the She Team.

At Kukatpally, the police arrested Neeraj Rajuldev, 25, for creating a fake profile of a woman on a social networking app, when she refused to have a physical relationship with him.

Cyberabad police said that about 225 complaints were received from women on various kinds of troubles faced by them, among which 75 cases were booked in which 54 persons were held. The accused were counselled in the presence of their family members and warned about stringent action, the police added.
