HYDERABAD: A video that purports to show the principal of St George's High School, Moulali, asking for a bribe has gone viral on social media. The video was said to have been secretly shot by a parent when the principal allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 50,000 for altering certain data of a Class 10 student. He later uploaded it on Youtube.

The parent also called Malkajgiri mandal education officer R. Srinivas and told him about the bribe demand but did not lodge a formal complaint. Mr Srinivas said a Class 10 student was absent for internal exams conducted by the school and the management was allegedly demanding money for sending marks to the higher authorities. Every student should get at least seven out of 20 marks allocated for internals. Medchal district education officer A. Usha Rani said an inquiry had been ordered.
