Hyderabad: The Rachakonda police on Tuesday nabbed two rowdy-sheeters who were involved in a series of grave offences, including attempt to murder, at Balapur a week ago. Police seized two vehicles, four daggers, baseball bats used in the attacks, land documents and cash of Rs 1.10 lakh from their possession.
The suspects Ilyas Nawab, 34, and Ahmed bin Mohammed Jabri, 24, were earlier involved in another murder apart from other cases.
Police also arrested their associate Muqtar Ahmed Farooqui. Last Wednesday, one Hassan Barakba from Barkas had an argument with a couple. At this, the trio of Ilyas, Ahmed and Muqtar, who had a earlier grudge against Hassan, attacked him with baseball bats. They fled from the spot when he raised alarm.
Ilyas was also involved in two extortion cases at Balapur in the recent past where he grabbed land documents and cash from the land owners. Rachakonda commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat said that he was involved in two murder cases at Pahadishareef in 2009 and 2013 each.
"Ahmed Jabri was also involved in a murder case in 2011 Pahadishareef. Due to their criminal activities, police had opened rowdy-sheets against them in 2011 and 2013 respectively to control their illegal activities," said the commissioner.
Based on a tip-off, the LB Nagar SOT caught the trio while they were moving in a car. On checking the vehicle, police found four daggers, land documents, cash, two baseball bats, and later recovered a scooter of a victim from their house.
They were involved in two extortion cases, one attempt to murder case and also booked for possessing daggers under Arms Act earlier. They were produced in court and sent in remand.
