Bengaluru: Infidelity - Auto driver slits wife's throat

Bengaluru: Suspecting her fidelity, an auto driver slit his 31-year-old wife’s throat in Thalaghattapura police station limits on Wednesday night.The deceased is Vasanthamma and her husband, Muniraju, has been arrested by the police. They were residing on Library Road in Thalaghattapura.

According to police, the couple fell in love and married 12 years ago. They have two children and Vasanthamma worked in a beauty parlour.Muniraju was allegedly an alcoholic and quarrelled with his wife every day. He also suspected her fidelity and had frequent fights with her over the issue.

“On Wednesday night, Muniraju came home drunk and picked a fight with his wife. Following a heated argument, he took a knife, murdered her and fled. The incident came to light when Vasanthamma’s brother came to visit and found her lying in a pool of blood. He immediately informed the neighbours about the incident and the police were alerted.

While the police launched a manhunt to nab the accused, he turned up at the police station an hour after the incident and surrendered,” an official said.“Incidentally, the two children had gone to Vasanthamma’s parents’ house when the incident took place. The accused confessed that the couple had marital discord and that led to the killing,” the police added.
