Hyderabad: Two held for faking branded TV sets

Cops recovered 51 TV sets, worth Rs 25,68,500 including 50 sets with Sony label and one with Samsung label.

Hyderabad: The Special Operations Team of Rachakonda bust a racket and arrested two persons selling assembled television set by faking them as branded ones through e-commerce portal OLX. The suspects who procured the TV sets from Delhi, fixed stickers of different brands and sold them for much lower than the market price. The arrested persons were identified as Gaurav Singh and Budigala Santosh.

Rachakonda Commissioner Mr. Mahesh Bhagwat said, "The sale of counterfeit products not only affect the business and the brand image but also affects the rights of unaware consumers who end up purchasing the counterfeit products believing them to be the genuine products of Sony or Samsung."

The commissioner said Gaurav hailed from Delhi and had moved to Hyderabad a month ago and started a shop at Chaitanyapuri. He had been posting the pictures of TVs  of various brands on OLX and offering huge discounts on the sale price.
