Illegal ice cream making unit busted in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The Cyberabad special operations team (SOT) on Friday busted an illegal ice cream manufacturing company at Chandanagar and arrested its owner Srinivas Reddy. He had been running the unit for around five years without securing permission from the relevant departments and also found using sub-standard raw materials and operating in unhygienic conditions.

Sleuths seized raw material, ice-creams ready to be delivered and machinery used for manufacturing, all worth Rs 9.54 lakh, from the premises. The raid was based on credible information.

Srinivas Reddy was also using existing brand labels illegally for packing and delivering the ice-cream to eateries, bakeries, kirana stores in different parts of the city. He was operating without a food licence, trade licence and labour licence.
