Ariyalur: Bus conductor murdered over extra-marital affair
Kumaravel fell in love with the divorced daughter of the auto-rickshaw driver Elumalai and this had led to domestic tension in the latter’s family.
Ariyalur: The Ariyalur district police have arrested an auto-rickshaw driver for allegedly murdering a state-owned TNSTC bus conductor who allegedly had an affair with his divorced daughter and to also avenge his daughter’s death take at Vridhachalam in Cuddalore district late last night.
Police said, the deceased Kumaravel, a government bus conductor attached to Vridhachalam TNSTC depot who had lost his wife, was living alone at Pudukkuppam near Vridhachalam.
Kumaravel fell in love with the divorced daughter of the auto-rickshaw driver Elumalai and this had led to domestic tension in the latter’s family. Elumalai’s daughter allegedly committed suicide in Kumaravel’s house, police claimed.
Angered at these developments, Elumalai induced Kumaravel to come to a hideout at Vridhacalam on Sunday night where both consumed liquor.
After a few pegs, Elumalai allegedly murdered Kumaravel and dumped his body in a village near Ariyalur and fled, police said.
But as fate would have it, Elumalai’s auto-rickshaw when intercepted by the police during a routine vehicle check, was found to have blood stains. Questioned about it, a helpless auto driver Elumalai reportedly confessed to the crime, police said.
On information, Ariyalur police removed the body of the deceased bus conductor to the Government hospital at Ariyalur for post-mortem.
Police also arrested Elumalai and are investigating.
