HYDERABAD: In a rare display of bravery and humanity, a fireman rushed inside a burning shed and rescued a hapless goat which was trapped inside, at Bahadurpura on Monday. The fireman was appreciated by senior officials for his gallant act.

The fire station received a call at 11.04 am on Monday, informing that a fire broke out at Gokul Scrap Traders, said G.V. Reddy, Chandulal Baradari station fire officer (SFO).

Two fire brigades rushed to the spot and controlled the fire by 12.20 pm, the fire official said. Aluminum sheets and other material, all worth Rs 10 lakh were gutted in the fire.

Meanwhile, M. Pravithan, a fireman of Chandulal Baradari fire station risked his life and rescued a goat that got injured while trying to escape with 18 other goats and got stuck in the backside of the shed where the fire mishap occurred. Later, the goat was treated in a government veterinary hospital.

The Bahadurpura police registered a case and suspect a short circuit might have caused the fire.
