Vijayawada: A minor girl committed suicide harassment by a minor boy at Sanathnagar in Kanuru panchayat limits in city on Wednesday night. Tension prevailed for a while after the parents of girl refused to file a case. Local YSRC leaders called the police to investigate the case.

Penamaluru Police said the victim, 14, was a Class IX student at the Government High School. She used to cycle to school every day with her younger sister. A 16-year-old boy used to follow her daily and harass her by throwing mud and hurling invectives. The girl ignored him, and told her sister not to mention it to their parents. On Wednesday, the boy tried to enter her home when her parents were away. The girl committed suicide in the night by hanging herself from a fan.

Police finally secured a complaint from the girl’s father and filed a case under IPC Section 306 (abetment to suicide) and named the 16-year-old as prime accused. Penamaluru inspector Damodar said the boy would be picked up.
