Accused involved in robbing women, arrested
Hyderabad: Cyberabad police arrested Jarpula Heerya of Mahbubnagar district and Jogu Mallesham, in separate cases of trapping women at labour addas and toddy compounds and robbing them. Heerya chopped both legs of a woman, killed her and robbed her anklets and other valuables from her, while Mallesham was involved in two similar robberies.
According to police, while investigating the missing case of D. Mangamma reported at Shadnagar a few days ago, police found a woman’s body with her legs chopped off. The body was later identified by Mangamma’s husband, who recognised with the help of her clothes.
Meanwhile, an unidentified person chopped the nostrils of a woman at Shadnagar, assaulted her on her head and robbed her nose rings at Shadnagar on Tuesday.
Based on technical evidence and other clues from Tuesday’s robbery, police identified the accused as Heerya and apprehended him. During questioning, he also admitted to have killed Mangamma and robbed valuables from her. On his confession, police recovered silver anklets weighing 48 tolas, nose rings from him.
Meanwhile, Mallesham was involved in robberies reported at Moinabad and Chevella on Tuesday and another offence in Shankarpally in September 2022. The bike used in the offence and stolen valuables were recovered from him and he was sent to judicial remand, the police said.
