Bengaluru: Four drink in public, assault cop, arrested
The four accused allegedly assaulted Mr Kumar and also tried to tear his uniform.
Bengaluru: Four people, who allegedly assaulted a policeman for questioning them for consuming alcohol at a public place, were arrested by the Viveknagar police on Saturday night. The arrested, Shiva, Kumar, Jagan and Muni, are residents of Viveknagar.
The four were allegedly drinking and doing drugs in the open on Saturday night. Meanwhile, Santosh Kumar, a police constable attached to Viveknagar, who was on night patrolling, noticed them and questioned them for their behaviour. Annoyed by this, the four accused allegedly assaulted Mr Kumar and also tried to tear his uniform. “The constable passed on the message to the station and other policemen rushed to the spot in a Hoysala patrolling vehicle and arrested the four people. Later, some of their supporters gathered at the station and demanded their release. After the photos of them drinking and smoking in public place were shown, they left,” an official said.
