Tamil Nadu: Retired IPS officer beats up guard, wife
The station house officer at the station is still mulling over whether to register a case or not.
Chennai: A retired additional director general of police allegedly attacked a security guard and his wife at a beach house in Panaiyur with his walking stick on Saturday morning after a quarrel, police sources said here.
Following the incident, the injured security guard, identified as Ganeshan (45), had lodged a complaint with the Kanathur police station. The station house officer at the station is still mulling over whether to register a case or not.
The retired officer was annoyed because the beach house manned by Ganeshan and his wife Jayanthi (40) was being rented out for film shooting during the night. Film shooting at night at the beach house located on 10th Avenue in Panaiyur, which belonged to a man from Royapettah, had become an irritant to other residents in the neighbourhood.
When the retired IPS officer went and picked up a quarrel with the guard and his wife, they reportedly asked for his identity. This angered the former police officer and he started beating them using his walking stick. After ‘proving’ his identity with his stick, the retired ADGP later made the couple to fall on his feet and apologise.
Ganeshan, who suffered injuries to his hand, went to the police station to lodge a complaint after getting treatment in a private hospital. Police are yet to register a case in connection with the incident.
