Hyderabad: Two persons were killed in separate accidents on the outskirts of the city during the wee hours of Monday. Police suspect that in both the mishaps, the drivers of the cars had fallen asleep.
At around 1 am on Monday, Gajawelli Prabhu, 46, a car driver from Warangal, left for Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad to drop a passenger. While returning in the car at around 5 am, Prabhu’s car rammed into an ongoing vehicle from the rear on the outer ring road near NTPC in Ghatkesar.
Passersby alerted the Ghatkesar police, but before the police could reach the spot, the vehicle into which Prabhu’s car rammed, vanished.
In another accident at Ibrahimpatnam, Akula Dhanunjaya, 40, a businessman, died when the car in which he was travelling rammed into a wall near Gurunanak Engineering College during the early hours of Monday. Ibrahimpatnam inspector V. Swamy said Dhanunjaya reportedly dozed off while driving and as a result, the car rammed into the wall. He died on the spot while two persons are out of danger.
