Alappuzha: Body found in mysterious circumstances

An MBA graduate working in the canteen of a city engineering college was found dead in suspicious circumstances in Dundigal.

ALAPPUZHA: A man was found dead in mysterious circumstances on Wednesday. The police said it suspected the body found in Kalarcode here that of the man who met with an accident at Thottapally 15 km away late Tuesday night.

Ambalappuzha circle inspector Viju V. Nair identified the victim as H. V. Sunil Kumar, 49, of Kalavoor. 

Police came to know about the incident after a witness alerted. Though they reached the spot, nobody was seen but a wallet with his ID, blood stains and shards of glasses of the vehicle. Alappuzha Medical College Hospital authorities confirmed that no accident cases were being treated after 1.30 am. 

Meanwhile around 3 am, Punnapra police got information from an auto driver and newspaper agent of the body found on the national highway near Kalarkode.

Soon the police reached the spot and took the naked body to the MCH. 

“The rear side of the body and skull were found gravely wounded. So we suspect it was dragged by a vehicle for around 15 km from the accident spot," he said. 

“We shifted the body to the MCH morgue where his son identified the body. He told us he left home a couple of days ago not saying where he was going. We will know if there was foul play only after getting the autopsy report.”

Sub-inspector C. Sreejith said the victim had no much attachment with the family and he left home three days back.

“It’s suspected that he was walking through the walkway near Uriyadi Unni Thevar temple at Thottappally and was knocked down by an unidentified vehicle around 1.30 am," he said. 

The body after post-mortem at MCH here handed over to relatives by the evening.
