Pune: Man harasses, threatens ex-Miss India on Instagram; held
The accused allegedly threatened to kill Neha Hinge after she refused to chat with him on a social media site.
Pune: The Pune police on Thursday arrested a man who was allegedly harassing a former Miss India International-cum-actress, Neha Hinge, on a social media site. The accused allegedly threatened to kill Ms Hinge after she refused to chat with him on a social media site and forbid him to post her pictures.
Vijaymala Pawar, assistant police inspector with Pune police’s cyber crime wing, said, “Hinge lodged a complaint with the Sangvi police in July this year. She said a person unknown to her had created a fake account in her name on Instagram and created a friends’ group on the site.”
Mr Pawar said the accused had “started posting her pictures on the site and tagging her friends”.
“When Hinge’s friends came to know that the account was fake, they exited the group,” said Mr Pawar. “When Hinge asked the accused to refrain from posting her pictures, the accused threatened to kill her and posted more images of her,” he added.
“Following the complaint in July, the cyber crime cell of Pune has been trying to locate the accused. The team was finally able to locate him in Nashik district. The accused Vinit Raghuwansh Ojha (22), a resident of Renukadham Society, Camp Road, Deolali, Nashik was held on October 13,” Mr Pawar added.
