Andhra Pradesh: Woman slips at temple, drowns in Tandava river
She slipped as the steps were very slippery due to collection of moss.
Rajahmundry: A woman devotee slipped from the steps of the ghat at Tuni in East Godavari on Friday and drowned in Tandava river.
According to Tuni town police, Danthuluri Sridevi, 48, a resident of Tuni, had gone to Sivalayam on the banks of Tandava river to offer puja as she used to do every Friday. She slipped as the steps were very slippery due to collection of moss. She did know how to swim and drowned in the river by the time locals came to her rescue. Her body was sent to hospital for post-mortem. Police booked a case under Section 174 CrPC and investigation is on.
With the concerned authorities failing to clean the steps, the growth of moss on the steps is very heavy. Several people have drowned at the ghat.
