Andhra Pradesh: Teacher tied to tree found to be mentally unstable

The parents of a student of Class IX alleged that Tirumala Prasad (54) had misbehaved with their daughter in the previous week.

Tirupati: An English teacher was tied to a tree by parents alleging that he had misbehaved with a student of the Urdu ZP High School in Khajipeta of V. Kota, Chittoor district, on Monday. The police later found that the accused’s mental condition was unstable. The parents of a student of Class IX alleged that Tirumala Prasad (54) had misbehaved with their daughter in the previous week. When they came to know about the incident, they visited the school and tied him to a tree. 

Ravi Prakash Reddy, the sub-inspector of V. Kota, rushed to the spot and took the accused to the police station. Mandal Education Officer Chandra Sekhar said that he would conduct an inquiry into the issue and initiate action against the teacher if the charges are proved. The parents who made the allegation refused to file a complaint with the police. DSP Chowdeswari of Palamaneru said, “He was in a coma for three years and he returned to work just a few months ago. We found that his mental condition was not stable after recovery.”
