Motorist hit by Vanteru Pratap\'s car, dies
HYDERABAD: A high-end SUV owned by TS Forest Development Corporation’s Vanteru Pratap Reddy hit a moped that resulted in the death of its rider, a 60-year-old man, at Medchal on Tuesday.
Police said Pratap Reddy was in the vehicle at the time of the incident. Police registered a case against Chandrapuram Shekar, the driver, and started an investigation.
Though the vehicle was purchased long ago, it was not registered and displayed a temporary registration number. At the time of the accident, the vehicle had the number TS 07JM 1030 and a ‘Govt Vehicle’ sticker displayed on it.
The accident was a result of rash driving and overspeeding, said Medchal inspector S. Rajasekhar Reddy.
Police said the victim Gourla Narsimha had started from his home to go to Dabilpur. When he was at Athvelly village on NH-44, the SUV going in the same direction hit the two-wheeler from the rear, killing him on the spot.
On a complaint from Narsimha’s family members, police started an investigation. Inquiries revealed that Pratap Reddy had started from his home near Alwal in the city and was heading to Medak district, when the mishap occurred.
