Two killed in Nelamangala toll plaza pile-up

The KSRTC bus moved and hit an Omni van which rammed into a Canter ahead.

According to the police, the accident occurred around 5.30 pm when a Nagaland-registered state container crashed into an Alto car, which was in the queue behind a KSRTC bus.

Bengaluru: In a serial accident involving two cars, a container, a KSRTC bus and a van, two people travelling in the cars died, while two others escaped with minor injuries at Nelamangala Toll Plaza on Wednesday evening.

The deceased have been identified as Gurudev (38), a resident of R.R. Nagar, and Jaikumar (52), whose address is yet to be confirmed. According to the police, the accident occurred around 5.30 pm when a Nagaland-registered state container crashed into an Alto car, which was in the queue behind a KSRTC bus. 

The car completely got crushed as it hit the KSRTC bus and its driver Gurudev died on the spot. The KSRTC bus moved and hit an Omni van which rammed into a Canter ahead. 

The Omni too got crushed completely. However, the three occupants of the van were rescued by passersby and rushed to a nearby hospital. One of the occupants of the van Jaikumar succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, while two others are being treated for minor injuries, the police said. The Nelamangala traffic police registered a case and arrested the driver of the container and detained the driver of the KSRTC bus.
