Bengaluru: One dead as speeding car collides with two bikes

Bengaluru: A 17-year-old student died and another bike rider sustained grievous injuries after a car driven by a 56-year-old woman lost control. The car rammed into the median, ploughed on to the opposite side of the busy International Airport Road, colliding with two bikes.
The incident took place on Thursday morning. The deceased, Aravind Muralidharan, was a second year PU student at the Presidency College in Kempapura and a resident of Ganganagar in R.T. Nagar, the police said. The injured person was Vijay Hiremath, 40, a resident of Badrappa Layout and a contractor.
The driver of the car, Anita Sen, was also injured in the accident and was taken to the hospital for treatment. Anita Sen is a resident of Yelahanka New Town and worked as a graphic designer at a private firm in Cox Town.
According to the police, the accident happened between 9.15 and 9.30 on the busy International Airport Road in Kempapura, diagonally opposite Columbia Asia Hospital.
Anita Sen was on her way to her office in her L-board Alto car bearing registration number KA-03-MT-6386. When she was maneuvering her car to turn from the service road on to the main road near the ramp in Kempapura near Kodigehalli Gate, the car lost control, rammed into the median and jumped on to the other side of the road.
In doing so it collided with Aravind’s bike that was heading in the direction towards the Airport, the police said. Another bike also collided with the car, leaving its rider Vijay with a fracture.Vijay was rushed to the hospital where he is said to be out of danger, the police said. Aravind’s body was later shifted to M.S. Ramaiah Hospital’s mortuary for a post-mortem.
Hebbal traffic police have registered a case against the driver of the car under IPC section 304-a, and 279 and have seized all the three vehicles involved in the accident.
“We have registered a case of causing death by negligence and rash driving on a public highway against the car driver. We are in the process of scrutinizing the licenses and other documents of the drivers and riders of the vehicles involved and investigations are under way,” said Renuka, DCP North Division (Traffic).
