Hyderabad: Four held for using banned China powder' to ripen fruit

Hyderabad: South Zone Task Force police arrested four persons for ripening fruits artificially by using calcium carbide and ‘China powder’ which are banned in the state. Additional DCP N. Koti Reddy said they conducted the raids based on credible information on Thursday and Friday at Bhavaninagar, Moghalpura, Falaknuma and Hussaini Alam. The arrested persons were identified as Abdul Sattar, 28, Akheel Babu, 48, Mohammad Akbar, 22, and Sheik Jabbar, 27. A huge quantity of chemicals has also been seized.
