A two-wheeler-borne duo snatched a gold chain from a Chennai corporation official on Wednesday night.
Chennai: Although city police have intensified night patrolling and formed special crime prevention teams, chain snatching incidents in the city continue unabated. A two-wheeler-borne duo snatched a gold chain from a Chennai corporation official on Wednesday night.
According to police sources, Glory Vittabai (53) of Cuddapah Road in Kolathur was returning home on a two-wheeler with her husband David Denison at around 9 pm on New Avadi Road. She is a Chennai Corporation maternity officer attached to the Royapuram zone.
“When they reached near Vellalar Street junction on New Avadi Road near ICF, the duo on a two-wheeler, who were trailing the couple, suddenly snatched the 13 sovereign gold chain from Glory,” police said. The snatchers were wearing helmets.
Based on Glory Vittabai’s complaint, ICF police registered a case and are investigating. Police are also looking into CCTV footages in the locality to ascertain the identity of the snatchers.
