Woman throws kid off bridge in Mahbubabad

WARANGAL: In a shocking incident, a four-month-old boy died after his mother hurled him down from a bridge near Bayyaram village in Mahbubabad district on Thursday. The woman also tried to jump off the bridge but was stopped by onlookers.

According to sources, the woman, Gangaraboina Saritha, wife of Suresh, of Banjara thanda of Mungimadugu village in Narsimhulapet mandal, was going to their village along with her husband and relatives in an autorickshaw after offering prayers at Sammakka and at Kattugudem village in Bayyaram mandal. Saritha had allegedly been suffering from some mental illness for the last several days. 

When the rickshaw reached the bridge near Bayyaram, Saritha had asked the driver to stop the auto. She stepped out carrying her son and suddenly threw him into the stream. But the auto-driver and her relatives ran to her and stopped her from jumping. They later their village with the body of the boy.

Saritha had allegedly been suffering from some mental illness for the last several days. Meanwhile, Bayyaram CI Ramesh said that they had not received any complaint about the incident, and added that they would inquire into the incident.
