Denied Rs 200 for buying liquor, alcoholic kills his wife

HYDERABAD: A woman was reportedly strangled to death by her second husband after she refused to give him Rs 200 to buy liquor.

According to Chandrayangutta police, the accused Azar Ahmed killed his wife Farzana Begum (39) at his house in Gazi-3 Millat Colony, Chandrayangutta, Tuesday evening. Following a heated argument over Rs 200, Azar strangled her with a towel and fled, police sources said.

The case came to light when the victim’s neighbour Zarina saw her lying unconscious on the floor and alerted the police.

Farzana Begum, after a divorce from her first husband Sameerr urRehman in 2003, got married to Azar, who worked in a private firm.

A few months back Azar was sacked from his job after he reported for work drunk. Since then Azar was constantly harassing Farhana for money to meet his expenses for liquor, police said.

Police suspect that along with Azar, two women were also present at the murder scene.Police registered a case and shifted the victim's body to Osmania general hospital for post-mortem.
