Bengaluru: Woman found dead in cook's room
The body was found in a decomposed state and the suspect cook is absconding.
BENGALURU: A 35-year-old woman was found murdered at a cook’s room at B.K. Nagar in Yeshwanthpur police limits on Monday morning. The body was found in a decomposed state and the suspect cook is absconding.
The deceased, Anitha, hailed from Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh. It is said that her husband passed away a few years ago and she had moved to the city with her son, a diploma student. The mother and son were living in a rented house at Mattikere for the last two years and she was working at a fast food hotel located near Yeshwanthpur Railway Station.
She had grown close to Manjunath alias Ravi, who worked as a cook in the same hotel and visited him frequently at his room in B.K. Nagar, the police said. On Monday morning, the building owner sensed foul smell coming from the room and alerted the police. When the police opened the room door, they found her body in a decomposed state.
“It is suspected that she was murdered 2-3 days ago. Nobody noticed her absence as her son had gone to Andhra Pradesh as his college was closed. The assailant has stabbed her several times in the abdomen, neck, hands and other parts of the body. The room was locked from outside and Manjunath has also been missing for the last 2-3 days. This has raised suspicion that he could be behind the murder. It is suspected that they both had an illicit relationship. We are on the lookout for him,” the police said.
