Bengaluru: R. Karthick, a software professional, is a relieved man now after he got back the valuables stolen by a gang of robbers, nearly a fortnight ago. He was abducted and robbed by four men in Electronic City on July 27, after they offered him a lift in car. Karthick had feared for his life and was abandoned in a deserted place in Attibele.

Deccan Chronicle had in its July 29 edition reported about the incident. While the police initially refused to register his complaint, with DC's intervention the Parappana Agrahara police registered a case, which later led to the arrests. The police busted a gang of robbers, who used to move around in cars and rob victims after offering them lifts. The team arrested four members of the dreaded gang. They have been identified as Nagendra alias Naga, Venkatesh, and Vijay Kumar, all from Hosur and Basavaraj from Anekal.

Police have also seized two cars and 84 grams of gold chains from them. There are seven robbery cases against them in several police station in the city, said M.B. Boralingaiah DCP (north-east).

The gang was caught and arrested last week when they were in search of a target. A senior police officer said the gang members were habitual offenders. One of the accused was arrested earlier and after seeking bail, he again took to crime. The incident took place on July 27 night at Electronic City II Stage, while Karthick was waiting for a bus to go to Hosur. The accused came in a car and told him that they too were going to Hosur and offered to drop him. Trusting them Karthik got into the car.  After travelling some distance, an accused  took out a knife and threatened him to give away his valuables.

They took away his mobile phone, a gold chain and two rings. They even snatched his debit card and withdrew Rs 15,000 from a Federal Bank ATM at Balagaranahalli.

They abandoned him near Attibele Service Road and left. They also threatened him with dire consequences if he filed a police complaint.
