Madras High Court grants bail to Arappor' Jayaraman

Chennai: The Madras high court has granted advance bail to Jayaraman Venkatesan, convenor of Arappor Iyakkam, who awas arrested for his postings on social media. When his plea came up for hearing before Justice P.N. Prakash yesteday, the judge granted the anticipatory bail, subject to conditions.
Jayaraman Venkatesan said Arappor Iyakkam is a people's movement working towards building a just and equitable society through non-violent struggles. It produced a video with footages showing the incidents involving the police whenever people were demonstrating in a non-violent manner for their rights. Though the video was uploaded on social media on August 5, till date there was neither violence nor people have been provoked. On a complaint from M. Hamid the Cyber Crime Cell, Central Crime Branch registered a case against him.
