Road Accident Claims Five Lives in Annamayya District

TIRUPATI: In a ghastly road accident that occurred during the early hours of Friday, at least five people lost their lives, and 11 others sustained injuries when a Toofan vehicle collided head-on with a lorry in the Mathampalli area of KV Puram mandal.

The victims, both deceased and injured, were identified as residents of Belagavi in the state of Karnataka. The incident occurred at approximately 3 am when the Toofan vehicle, carrying passengers who had just completed their spiritual journey to the revered Tirumala temple, collided with the lorry, resulting in a harrowing scene of destruction and chaos.

Upon receiving information, the police rushed to the accident site and initiated rescue efforts. With the assistance of local residents, the injured were transported to SVR Ruia Hospital in Tirupati for immediate medical attention.

The severity of the accident led to the temporary closure of the affected road, causing several vehicles to be stranded. After an hour, police managed to clear the traffic snarl. The details of the deceased are yet to be disclosed.
