Telangana: Beggar woman and son charred to death in hut
The victims were homeless and were living in a hut near the main road.
Hyderabad: A woman and her son were charred to death at Miyapur in the wee hours of Monday. The victims were homeless and were living in a hut near the main road. The fire destroyed the hut and burnt them alive inside. Police is investigating whether the fire erupted from inside or somebody set the hut on fire. Police thinks that the victims themselves may have lighted a bonfire inside the hut to escape the cold weather and slept off. The fire must have then spread inside the hut and killed them.
Police said the 70-year-old woman and her 35-year-old son were begging in the area. While the son’s name is Keshav, people do not know the name of the mother. Early on Monday at around 1 am, fire erupted from the hut built by the duo by the side of the NH near Hema Durga Devi temple. The public saw the fire and informed the police. Miyapur inspector K. Ramesh said the hut was gutted before the fire fighting team arrived. A fire engine from Kukatpally fire station came and doused the blaze. “Two bodies were found inside the hut. The victims used to beg in nearby areas. The mortal remains of the duo and material evidence were collected and sent for forensic analysis by the Clues team,” the inspector said. Police booked a case.
