Hyderabad: Intel units, cops behind encounter

HYDERABAD: The Khammam encounter in which eight Naxalites of the CPI (ML) Chandra Pulla Reddy (Bata) faction were killed is a result of coordination between the state intelligence units and the local police.
According to the sources in the intelligence department, the information was gathered from former Naxalities who had surrendered before the police. Basing on the intelligence reports, the local police in Khammam, Mahbubabad and the adjoining districts started the combing operations. A few arrests were made in last few weeks in these districts.

Several Naxalities belonging to various left wing groups had surrendered before the police in the last couple of months.
CPI (Maoist) party member Kondagorla Ravinder alias Vinod surrendered in October. He was a deputy commander of Eturnagaram-Mahadevpur area committee and member of Jayashankar Bhupalpally-Mahabubabad-Pedda-palli-Warangal (JMPW) area committee. He also worked as guard to Apachi Nara-yana alias Ramesh, member of the weapon team.
