Plea seeking custody of girl in rescue home rejected
HYDERABAD: Justice Surender of the Telangana High Court on Thursday rejected the plea of a person who was seeking custody of a minor girl from a rescue home on court orders. The judge was dealing with a petition filed by Bethi Venkateshwarlu. The child is in custody of Prajwala Rescue Home. The counsel for the petitioner argued that the wish of the victim had to be seen and the girl needs to be reunited with her relatives. In a report submitted by Prajwala Rescue Home as directed by the court, it said that the victim belongs to a sect, which was into prostitution business and from Yadgirigutta where several minors were rescued and many cases were still pending. The home pointed out that the person seeking custody was an accused in an FIR for trafficking of girls. The rescue home pointed out that the victim needed rehabilitation in any government sponsored rescue home/shelter. The court dismissed the petition and directed that the victim be in the rescue home for rehabilitation for a period of one year.
