Hyderabad: The woman, who was attacked by her daughter’s jilted lover at her residence in Miyapur, succumbed while undergoing treatment early on Wednesday morning. Police said the condition of the accused, who slit his throat in an alleged suicide attempt, remains critical.

Police said that Shobha and her daughter Vaibhavi were attacked with a knife by Sandeep Kumar alias Babloo at their residence in Aditya Nagar, Miyapur on Tuesday morning.

“Shobha sustained injuries on her abdomen and chest while Vaibhavi was injured below her neck. The condition of Vaibhavi is stable but Sandeep’s health is critical,” said the police.

A private employee from Guntur, Sandeep Kumar was in a relationship with Vaibhavi for three years. About two years ago, she allegedly broke up with him and started avoiding him.

“Sandeep starting calling her from different numbers and allegedly started threatening her that he would kill her and then commit suicide,” said Miyapur PS inspector N. Tirupathi Rao.

On Tuesday morning, at around 10:30 am, Sandeep approached their house to talk to Shobha in an attempt to convince her to reconcile the relationship with her daughter.

“The three started quarreling. During their scuffle, Sandeep pulled out a knife and attacked Sobha and Vaibhavi. He later slit his throat with the same knife in an attempt to kill himself,” the inspector said.
