Muthoot heist: Suspects had changed their vehicle's registration plate
The police zeroed in on a black Scorpio (AP 28N 3107) parked in front of a hardware shop at RC Puram.
Hyderabad: The Cyberabad police arrested five members of the gang that looted the Muthoot Finance branch in RC Puram on December 18. Before leaving, they took the DVR equipment, sprayed some substance on the lockers to wipe out clues, and locked the employees in the washroom.
The police zeroed in on a black Scorpio (AP 28N 3107) parked in front of a hardware shop at RC Puram. The same vehicle had travelled via Patancheru to Sedam and Chittapur. Investigations revealed that a black Scorpio (MH 06AN 1174) travelled the same route from Sangareddy to Shankarpally, but it arrived at Shankarpally with a new number plate.
“The suspects had changed the number plate half an hour before striking. A bike which was piloting the Scorpio was traced to Holikatta, through which both cars of the gang were traced,” Mr Shandilya said.
The gang parked both the cars in Holikatta, went to Nasik and dispersed. Laxman Mud-hang and Patil came back to Holikatta to collect the cars on Saturday and were caught. Subhash and Shah were caught in Mumbai while exchanging gold and cash.
