Hyderabad: Official caught taking Rs 85,000 bribe

The bribe amount was recovered from the accused's house.

In trap cases, the officer is caught red-handed accepting a bribe. In disproportionate assets cases, raids are conducted on the accused person's properties. The ACB also probes high profile criminal misconduct cases following directions from the government.

Hyderabad: Sleuths of the Anti-Corruption Bureau trapped a deputy executive engineer of the panchayatraj in Siddipet for accepting a bribe of  Rs 85,000 from a civil contractor. 

The ACB laid a trap and caught Kurapati Chandra Prakash red-handed at his residence at Cheryal while receiving the bribe amount from complainant M. A. Raheem, a civil contractor, to execute road construction works. 

The bribe amount was recovered from the accused’s house. Prakash was arrested and produced before the ACB special court in Hyderabad. 

The ACB has issued an appeal stating complainants must contact ACB toll free number -1064 in cases of where officials demand bribes.
