\'Donkey process\': Trafficking from Serbia to Poland
HYDERABAD: A group of youngsters from Nizamabad district, who were duped by a foreign job consultancy and trafficked to Serbia with a promise of jobs in Poland, returned home after a harrowing experience in Serbia. The management of the consultancy attempted to transport the victims by what is called the ‘Donkey Process’ from Serbia to Poland, covering over 1,000 km on donkeys.
However, as the victims refused, they were abandoned in a hotel from where they approached the local administration and returned home. One of the victims approached the Central Crime Station of Hyderabad city and lodged a complaint against Abroad Placement Consultancy located in Himayatnagar and a case was registered.
One of the victims who had earlier worked in Bahrain and returned home, told that they saw an ad from the consultancy and approached them to work in Poland. After collecting around Rs 3.50 lakh each from them, they underwent medical tests, for issuing visa to Poland.
But a few days later, the management started avoiding the victims. After much persuasion, the accused assured that they would be first sent to Serbia and then to Poland. In December, they were taken to Serbia and lodged in a hotel.
Even after three weeks, when there was no response from the accused on sending the victims to Serbia, the victims questioned them and the accused came up with the Donkey process idea. In this process, people illegally travel on Donkeys, to enter a foreign country via multiple stops in other countries enroute.
Three of his friends initially agreed to the Donkey Process, but later withdrew, after which the accused abandoned them without any support. Realising they were duped, the victims approached local authorities and through their help arranged flight travel home and reached the city two days ago.
