Pocso court jails rapist for 20 years

KAKINADA: Special POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Court judge P. Uma Sunanda on Thursday sentenced Nagisetty Vijaya Kumar alias Shiva of Eluru to 20 years’ imprisonment and a fine of ₹5,000.

According to Eluru DISHA Women Police Station DSP K.V. Satyanarayana, Shiva had sexually assaulted an eight-year-old girl on August 9, 2021. DISHA police arrested him within 24 hours and filed charge sheet against him within two months.

Advocate T.S. Sashidhara Reddy acted as public prosecutor.

Eluru district superintendent of police Rahul Dev Sarma has appreciated police personnel who investigated the case.
