Khadeer’s death: NCM asks SP to appear on May 15
HYDERABAD: The National Commission for Minorities (NCM) on Wednesday directed Medak police to appear before the panel on May 15 with complete details pertaining to the alleged custodial death of Md Khadeer in Medak district.
The commission in its notice asked superintendent of police Rohini Priyadarshini to provide copies of FIR, post-mortem report and other details related to the case.
Deputy superintendent of police K. Saidulu, who appeared before the commission in Delhi, failed to submit the relevant details, the panel said adding that SP Priyadarshini has been asked to appear before the commission and explain her failure to provide the case documents.
NCM member Shahezadi Syed criticised the Medak police for its alleged non-cooperation in furnishing the documents related to Khadeer’s death.
Last month, Shehezadi, along with Medak district collector and SP visited Khadeer’s house and collected details of the incident from his wife.
Khadeer died on February 17 at Gandhi Hospital. Police had detained him in connection with a theft case, his family alleged, and subjected him to torture in custody. His wife said that upon his release from jail, his condition was very bad and could not even stand on his own.
