Domestic spat: Wife cuts husband's three fingers

BENGALURU: A couple filed assault cases against each other after an altercation over the wife's preoccupation with her phone turned bloody. Ajith and Vijaya (names changed) became involved in a physical brawl, resulting in Ajith having three of his fingers cut when his wife held up a kitchen knife in self defense.

Ajith works as a senior analyst at a private software firm, while Vijaya, who quit her job recently, is currently unemployed. The couple live in Kasavanahlli, HSR Layout.

Police said the incident took place on May 4, at around 11 pm. Ajith, who came home after work, noticed Sunitha occupied with her phone. When he asked her what she had cooked for dinner, she told him to order from a restaurant. Furious, Ajith began to verbally abuse her for not cooking and for spending all her time with her phone. Ajith followed Sunitha, who had gone into the kitchen and attempted to hit her. She help up a knife to defend herself and when Ajith cut three of his fingers when he tried to hit her again. HSR Layout police have registered both complaints and an investigation is underway.
