Kannur RSS leader murder case: Two CPM workers held

Arrest of Rinesh and Jyothish was recorded after interrogation.

Kannur: The Taliparamba police on Monday arrested two CPM workers in connection with the murder of RSS Ramanthali leader C.Biju. The arrested include Rinesh (28), Naduvile Pura, Kakkampara, Ramanthali and Jyothish (26), Kunduvalappil, Ramanthali. Rinesh allegedly had a major role in the murder while Jyothish leaked the travel details of Biju, said police.

Both of them were in hiding when the cops nabbed them. Their arrest was recorded after interrogation at Taliparamba CI office.

The police has already registered a case against seven persons on the basis of the statements of Pandaravalappil Rajesh, who was travelling with Biju at the time of the attack. However, Taliparamba DySP K.V. Venugopal told this newspaper that it would be too early to conclude how many persons were involved in the murder, assuring that the investigation was in the right direction and the culprits would be nabbed soon.

Biju and Rajesh were accused in the murder of CPM worker C.V. Dhanaraj and the arrested duo are also known to have close links with Dhanaraj, apart from their like-mindedness on politics.

The police on Sunday seized the car used by the killers of RSS worker Biju. C.Biju, 12th accused in the murder of a CPM worker C.V. Dhanaraj in July, was allegedly hacked to death on Friday evening, while travelling back from Mangalore. Biju was picked up by Rajesh, seventh accused in the Dhanaraj case, from Pazhayangadi railway station.

The police could track down the owner of the car as well the person to whom he gave it on a monthly rent of Rs 30,000.  The accused will be produced before the magistrate on Tuesday.
