Bhubaneswar: Four held for rape, murder of Dalit

Talking to mediapersons, Dhenkanal SP B.K. Pani-grahi said the probe revealed involvement of four accused in the incident.

On Wednesday, the police recovered the body of the Dalit woman from near her house.

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha police on Thursday arrested four accused in connection with the gang rape and murder of a 45-year-old widow at Balikuma village under Kankadahada police station limits in Dhenkanal district. The four arrested include,  prime accused Hari Patra.

Hari Patra is the son-in-law (husband of the deceased’s daughter) of the victim.
According to preliminary investigation, the four allegedly killed the woman after raping her over suspected past enmity.

Talking to mediapersons, Dhenkanal SP B.K.  Pani-grahi said the probe revealed involvement of four accused in the incident. “Hari Patra and Raghu Lohar entered the house of the woman and raped her while other two persons, Ananda Patra and Sudarshan Lohar, were on watch outside the house. They murdered her later on,” said the SP Mr Panigrahi.

On Wednesday, the police recovered the body of the Dalit woman from near her house. The accused had committed the crime in front of the 13-year-old son of the deceased.
