AP: Class 10 Student Burnt Alive in Bapatla
VIJAYAWADA: A group of youth burnt a Class X student on his way for tuition in Rajavolu village of Cherukupalli mandal in Bapatla district on Friday.
According to reports, U. Amarnath (15) was riding his bicycle when some youth waylaid him near Redlapalem. They threw petrol over him and set him afire.
Hearing his screams, locals rushed and doused the fire before shifting Amarnath to the Government General Hospital in Guntur. He, however, succumbed to his burns.
In his dying declaration to police, Amarnath mentioned Pamu Venkateswar Reddy as one of the attackers.
Repalle DSP Murali Krishna said Amarnath’s mother Madhavi has lodged a complaint against 21-year-old Venkateswara Reddy mentioning, that he had been harassing her daughter in the name of love for the past few days. Amarnath had several times asked Venkateswara Reddy to stop harassing her. They two had an altercation in this regard.
Cherukupalli police have registered a case under IPC section 302 (murder), 354 D (stalking), and POCSO Act. They have arrested Venkateswara Reddy and are interrogating him. Police are expected to arrest the three other suspects soon.
