Thiruvananthapuram: Probe on missing answer sheets
KU VC V.P. Mahadevan Pillai orders.
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala University Vice-Chancellor V. P. Mahadevan Pillai on Monday ordered a probe into the recovery of answersheets from the house of Sivare-njith, the first accused in the University College stabbing incident. He told mediapersons that the controller of examinations had been asked to look into the allegations of missing answer papers.
Four full answersheet sets comprising 12 pages and 11 sets of answersheets with fewer than 10 pages were found from the house of Sivarenjith. Mr Pillai said the recovery of answersheets from the residence was a grave issue. It will be examined whether there was any lapse on the part of college authorities in keeping the answersheets in safe custody.
Meanwhile, the seal of physical education director recovered from the house of the first accused was found to be fake. The director informed the police that the seal was not official. The teacher said the original seal was in his possession and it was not misplaced. The sports certificates of Sivarenjith are being subjected to close scrutiny.
The police has written to the PSC to provide the copies of certificates for further examination. Sivarenjith secured the first rank through sports quota and bagged 13.58 marks. Some documents bearing the fake seal of physical education director were also recovered from his house. The police suspect the authenticity of certificates produced by the accused. If allegations are proved correct, a case of forgery and creation of fake documents will be registered against him.
Kerala Police Associati-on general secretary Biju sought to defend Sivare-njith saying that there was nothing surprising in the accused topping the rank list through grace marks in sports.
