Hyderabad: A 40-year-old man, a chronic alcoholic, allegedly died after leaping from the fourth floor of the Gandhi Hospital building.

According to the police, L. Dharam Singh, a native of Amrabad in Nagarkurnool district, was admitted to the Gandhi Hospital for treatment for his “strange” behaviour. Dharam Singh, according to police, demanded money from his family members to buy alcohol.

After his family refused to give him money, Dharam Singh allegedly jumped through a window on the fourth floor of the hospital in the early hours of Friday.

“His family members, who brought him to Gandhi hospital for treatment a few days ago, saw his anxious and agitated behaviour as a sign of mental illness. Since then, he has been demanding money for alcohol from his wife and family members who visit him, and when they refuse, he used to pick a fight,” police said.
