Denied smartphone, Class IX boy ends life in Jagtial

A 13-year-old boy ended his life after his mother refused to give him smartphone at Tippannapet of Jagtial Urban mandal in Jagtial district on Tuesday.

Police said Sai Charan, the son of Myada Naresh and Jwala, was studying Class IX at a private school in the mandal headquarters.

On Tuesday morning, he did not attend the Independence Day celebrations at his school as he was suffering from a leg injury. When his mother saw him playing on smartphone for long time, she scolded him and took away the phone from him.

Upset over this, Naresh died by suicide. Police registered a case and started an investigation.
