HYDERABAD: The arrest of Bengaluru-based businessman Ch. Upendranadha Reddy alias V.C. Upendranath Reddy, a key functionary of the V-Empire, a subsidiary of QNET (Vihaan Direct Selling India Pvt Ltd) was the result of a two-month long effort by sleuths of Hyderabad police’s Central Crime Station (CCS).
Upendranath’s role came into light after a fire at the Swapnalok complex in March 2023, which claimed the lives of six employees of the V-Empire. Although cops had gathered clues based on information available to them, his arrest was delayed as the accused had gone into hiding after the fire mishap.

Police officials continued to keep a tab on his mobile number, call records and bank transactions and also monitored people he was regularly in touch with and with whom he had regular financial transactions.

However, the accused had stopped communicating with people known to him directly and instead connected with them through VoIP. He had also stopped meeting people in order to prevent the cops from trailing him.

Upendranath also changed his place of work and made arrangements to ensure that his salary was credited to his friend’s account, from whom he later collected the same as cash.

“However, patience and continuous efforts of multiple teams, under the
supervision of senior city police officers, gave results, leading to his
arrest,” CCS sleuths said.
