Spurned By Girlfriend', Pharma Student Dies by Suicide

HYDERABAD: A 21-year-old B-pharma student, who had come to the city from Odisha to meet his girlfriend, died by suicide after transferring Rs 1000 to her account with a voice message saying 'this is my last message; buy yourself a new dress.'

According to RGVI Shamshabad police Subash Naik, a native of Ganjam district, was found dead in OYO lodge at Shamshabad. On being informed by the lodge management, police rushed to the spot and inspected the crime scene. The officers found his Aadhar card, college ID and mobile phone.

“We found that the last number he had called belonged to one Rozalina Sahu of Shamshabad. She told the police that they were online friends for the past nine months.

Subash left his house on August 9 after informing that he was going to Kolkata. He reached Hyderabad on August 13. They both spent time together. That night at 10 pm Subash went to her house in Shamshabad and asked her to join him for dinner, which she refused, Subash, who was aware that she had a relationship with one Mohammed Imran, of Shamshabad argued with her and left, police said.

On August 14, when she refused to accompany him to watch a movie, Subash took the extreme step, police said.

RGIA Shamshabad police registered a case of suspicious death under section 174 CRPC and shifted his body to Osmania general hospital. Subash’s father Purnachander Naik took the body to his native place for performing the last rites.
