Former NMDC staff, aide convicted in minor orphan girl's rape case

Hyderabad: Fahmeeda Begum, warden of a private orphanage, and her aide Mir Kazim Ali Naqvi, a retired employee of the NMDC in Hyderabad, accused of assisting in the rape of a hostel inmate, in 2016, were found guilty by the Special Court for PoCSO cases at Nampally, Hyderabad. The court sentenced the duo to three years of imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 each. The victim was an orphan and was admitted to the hostel run by the accused persons.

ACP Anti Human Trafficking Unit, Hyderabad city Ch Shankar Reddy said that the duo helped the main accused in the case. The main accused died during the trial and the court conducted the trial against the two accused.

After examining the evidence produced by the prosecution and also the statements of the survivor, who testified against the two accused during the trial, the court found both guilty of the offence and sentenced them, he said.
